According to the in-game encyclopedia of Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment, Halls of Atonement is "the name given to Shumeria's Castle's dungeon. During the war, many high-profile Urdain prisoners were kept here, including the famous Sir Tarvis Malderion. After several months in captivity, Malderion led his countrymen in a prison break, and much of Shumeria burned as they fled into the night."
